This post wraps up my three part series on blessing others. (that sounds so formal) anyway this one is going to be kind of short and sweet, soo I am going to need lots of comments on practical ways that YOU bless others. Or maybe the question should be “are you blessing others?”
This is an area that I desperately need to work on. It’s actually one of the (major) areas in my life that God has been showing me how weak I am. Let’s take a look at what God says about this first.
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:36-40
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:37-40
According to the first verse we were created to love God and love people. Pretty simple. A lot easier to say than do. It is so easy to get wrapped up in ourselves, our families, our jobs. We don’t have time, we need me time, the list of excuses could go on and on. But I think that if we are not loving and serving and sacrificing for others we’re just not getting it. I even think it would be safe to call it sin.
This is all being written by a former, selfish, fearful, “me” lover. (Aren’t we all?) I say former because I am being reformed into His image and I will never be the same again!
In conclusion I want to share something that has helped to get me out of my “box” and comfort zone and helped to get my eyes off of myself. After all if we think so or not WE NEED PEOPLE!! Anyway one of the things that I try to do is every day either call, send a note or email someone. It may seem obvious or super simple to most people but it has greatly helped me not only to reach out to people but also to get over some fears that I had
Hope some of this makes sense, like I said earlier please feel free to leave your own comment on blessing other people! God bless you!

Yes Liz! We definitely need others in our lives. When we read the Bible, we rarely read that Jesus was alone. He pretty much continually surrounded Himself with people. i think that if we want to be more like Him one thing we need to do is not separate ourselves from others, but, rather, jump in and surround ourselves with them so we don’t become so concerned about ourselves. Does that make sense?
I love you!
Makes absolute sense!
